I love the FM series. I have many editions of the series. Great game. It is without a doubt the best football management sim going.
And i've played just about every other one. I haven't gotten the last two, and with the world cup going on, I decided to get the latest.. FM I, however, avoid any product powered by steam like the plague. My fault, I should have read that this is a Steam product. Steam sucks. I have never had anything but problems with it. I've returned games with it in the past and I may have to do so with this product.
I just want to load my purchase!!! Why make it so difficult. I cannot get steam to recognize my internet connection. I am connected, and it will not continue. I have a high speed account. I am connected. I hate steam, I hate steam, I hate steam. I have no idea why it did this last time Now it wont retrieve my account info.
Did I mention that I hate steam. Still trying 3 hours later Other than something for the manufacturer, I don't see a single redeeming benefit of using steam. I would love to give FM all five stars, because I'm sure it will deserve it. But , as of now, I may never get to play it let alone install it. When will these game designers learn not to partner up with these loser companies that just drag their product down? I don't think I've ever heard a positive comment about Steam on any review ever.

SEGA also apparently have little regard for loyal customers who have repeatedly purchased all updates and simply refer the customer to the retailer to rectify the problem. The retailer of course is stuck with the regional copies he has and is unable to help. It would seem clear SEGA are the only ones who can help but could not be bothered. Ver good. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I haven't really got heavily into any of the FM series for a good few years now but buy them as they still contain enough interest for me to feel it is worthwhile.
The game in itself seems conflicted, on the one hand they are trying to make FMC an easier version but it is a bit too gimmicky for me and too much like an 'arcade version' which isn't what FM for me is all about. The full version is far too bloated and the developers seem so desperate to add more and more to the game so they can advertise it as ' new features' and use that as a selling point that I feel they have really started to have trouble with seeing the 'wood for the trees'.
I think the game in itself is ok, not great but with the updates and if you can get it at a good price it is worth a purchase. I personally feel that they need to start to prioritise the areas that they want to focus on and that 'less is more' when it comes to this game and the myriad options you have with it and the sometimes crazy affect these decisions can have on your players and then your results can really drive you crazy.

Bought this and arrived in time and OK condition only issue is that it uses Steam to install on your PC and requires a product code,now when this is entered Steam recognised that the code had already been activated on another device previous owner and would not continue to install until this was released. Bit of a nightmare and still haven't got it instilled my advice is to stay clear of second hand and by new.
No hassle that way. I buy the FM series every other year or so. I then easily waste away literally hundreds of hours taking my beloved Newcastle United to glory. It's not a perfect game by any means. The match simulator produces some weird things occasionally, and tactical tweaking doesn't seem to do all that much. Most of all, I found the interface to be overcomplicated and confusing. This makes finding the right page can often be a bit of a chore as you search each of the options and tabs you think it may be under.
Nevertheless, the game is as addicting as ever. For pure replay-value, this game and its series remains a masterpiece. My fault I guess! This is a used product in very good condition BUT as it has been used before the product code has been used by another and you cannot therefore install the game either from the DVD or via steam. It is therefore useless. I have learned the lesson - never buy a pre-used PC game. Turns out after contacting football manager help line you can not play the game on anotger steam account once its been registered on another steam account already.
